Why there is advertising
We want reading to remain free and without registration. Advertising is our intended way of sustaining the publication.
Our rules
- Always labelled. Ads are marked as advertising and distinguished from content.
- Editorial separation. Advertisers do not decide what we publish or how we report it.
- No hidden content. We do not publish paid material disguised as news. If there were ever sponsored content, it would be unmistakably labelled.
- No click prompting. We do not place ads to confuse anyone or ask people to click on them.
How ads are chosen
Ads are served by Google AdSense, which automatically selects what to show. We do not choose each ad, and its appearance is not a recommendation. If you consent, ads may be personalised based on your activity. You can manage this in Cookies and in Google's ad settings.
If an ad seems inappropriate
